Noordwijk, 22-26 August 2016. The ESA/CEMS seminars offer talented business students from the Global Alliance for Management Education schools (CEMS) the opportunity to learn about technology transfer and see what it takes to turn space technology into viable non-space businesses. Students will be separated in two different assignment groups. One group will support ESA BIC start-ups in their quest to conquer the commercial market. The other group of students will be given a state-of-the-art space technology that they will have to spin- off into non-space applications and present their business plans to a professional jury. During the whole week, the seminar will be complemented with lectures from the Rotterdam School of Management (RSM) and the students are supported by ESA staff, the European Patent Office, TU Delft Industrial Design students, entrepreneurs and experts from industry. Technologies from previous 11 years include, the MELiSSA lifecycle technology, the ESA exoskeleton for robotic applications, a DNA analyzing tool from Airbus, a 3D Camera system from the company Cosine, a multi spectral camera for use in Mars missions and an ultra-light-weighting technique from ASTRON, originally used for light weighting telescope mirrors.
